Santa "Claws" - a Holiday Kids Craft!

Updated: 1 day ago

Looking for an indoor activity to do with the kids now that it's cold outside? We put together a step-by-step guide for crafting a simple and smiling Santa "Claws" that makes a perfect standing decoration, toy, or gift. Use the reccomended materials below, or add your own twist with what you have at home!

How-To Video Guide:

Supplies you'll need:

  1. Paper Plates

  2. Red Paint

  3. Paintbrushes

  4. Red Cardstock

  5. Scissors

  6. Cotton Balls

  7. Googly Eyes

  8. Black Paint

  9. Glue

  10. Red fabric

Instructions:

  1. Fold a paper plate in half. You want the top of the plate to be folded inwards to give your crab a rounded shape. Paint the top half of your plate red. This will be the face of your crab.

  2. Cut out a half-circle the same diameter of your plate with cardstock. This will become the hat.

  3. Trace the half-circle onto fabric but draw out a small triangle from the right-hand corner so it looks like Santa Claws' hat is hanging down. Glue the fabric onto the cardstock.

  4. Glue the hat onto the top of the folded paper plate.

  5. Along the bottom of the hat, glue cotton balls. Add one cotton ball to the dangling triangle of the hat.

  6. Glue on two googly eyes.

  7. Draw and cut out the crab's arms and legs onto red cardstock. Then glue them to the backside of the painted half of the plate.

  8. Paint on a smiley face!

You have now brought your Santa Claws to life! Add personalization to make it your own: such as glitter, bows, or have them holding a Christmas cookie.
